There are over 800 postdoctoral fellows working on our Vancouver and Okanagan campuses and over 10,000 graduate students pursuing masters and doctoral studies.

Through research, scholarship, teaching and working in communities our graduate students contribute to the advancement of human knowledge in ways that are, quite literally, innumerable.

Green College

Green College is a community committed to advanced interdisciplinary inquiry, which also extends an invitation to non-residents from all walks of life to join in the passionate pursuit of ideas. More than just a home to selected graduate students and postdoctoral scholars while they are working at UBC; it is an intellectual community of scholars and intellectuals stretching around the world,.

St. John’s College

Since its founding in 1997, St. John’s College has been a home away from home for more than 2,000 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars from over 100 different countries. Drawing upon the strong bonds of trust and communication developed within the St. John’s community, fellows and guests are able to discuss difficult, often contentious, issues in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

Graduate Pathways to Success program

UBC’s Graduate Pathways to Success program offers a suite of workshops and events designed to complement a graduate student’s academic curriculum and mentorship experience. Events such as Three Minute Thesis and PhDs Go Public foster effective presentative skills and showcase their research, while a range of personal and professional development offerings help graduate students to flourish in their programs and to develop competencies needed to thrive as professionals.

Aboriginal Graduate Fellowships

Aboriginal Graduate Fellowships are awarded to outstanding Aboriginal graduate students and provide a minimum annual stipend of $16,000 plus tuition. Fellowships are awarded annually through an annual competition, with priority given to Aboriginal students whose traditional territory falls, at least in part, within Canada.
